2014 Fantasy Hockey: Brock Nelson Playing Like Star C3

No unknown player has started off the 2014 fantasy hockey season hotter than New York Islanders C Brock Nelson.

The young 23-year-old has already registered eight points on the season coming in the way of four goals and four assists. He is currently leading the red-hot Islanders in goals scored and has produced like a top level fantasy forward this far into the 2014 season.

Nelson wasn’t owned in any league when the season started, but he currently finds himself owned in 86% of CBS league and 46% of Yahoo leagues. His ownership has skyrocketed after his hot-start and the mere fact that he is still available in a percentage of leagues is disturbing.

The Minnesota native has been one of the most productive third-line centers in fantasy. He has gelled well with RW Ryan Strome and it is only a matter of time until he gets on the same page with LW Andres Lee, who was just called up after racking up five points in five AHL contests.

Nelson has also become a fixture on the power play this season, as he has two goals and one helper with the man advantage. He has been shifted onto the first power play line as the left wing with John Tavares in the middle and Kyle Okposo on the right side and the sky is the limit for his point total this season if he can hold on to that job.

Nelson has emerged as a solid third fantasy center. He will likely slow down at some point this season, but he is a must-start while he is averaging over a point per game.
