Kelvin Benjamin Fantasy Football Week 9 Projection

Kelvin Benjamin

Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

Kelvin Benjamin is having an impressive rookie season for the Carolina Panthers, and he has established himself as the top receiver. He continued to impress fans and fantasy owners on Sunday against that vaunted Seattle Seahawks secondary with four catches for 94 yards, including a tremendous 51-yard grab between Richard Sherman and Earl Thomas, two of the best at their position.

Benjamin is currently ranked as the 13th-best wide receiver in most standard scoring leagues, just behind fellow rookie Sammy Watkins, averaging 10.1 points per game. The rookie is now on pace to finish the season with over 1,100 yards and 10 touchdowns. Benjamin has an even more favorable matchup this week, albeit on a short week. His Panthers will host the New Orleans Saints in a critical divisional contest for first place in the NFC South.

The 30th-ranked New Orleans defense had a strong showing this past Sunday against the Green Bay Packers, intercepting Aaron Rodgers twice. However, the Saints have proven to be a completely different team on the road in the Drew Brees-Sean Payton era, especially outside of a dome.

In four road games this season, New Orleans has allowed an average of 31.25 points. New Orleans give up the fourth-most fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers and have allowed 10 reception TDs, which is tied for second-most.

With all of that said, Mr. Benjamin should have a great showing on this weeks edition of Thursday Night Football. He has not had consecutive weeks without a score, so after failing to find to the end zone against Seattle, Benjamin might have one of his best games of the year this week.
