RB Charles Sims has yet to play in his first ever professional football game due to a severe ankle injury. The jury is still out on what kind of running back he will be for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that are still trying to find their identity as a team. One thing is for sure, Sims has a lot of potential to be the real deal once he hits the field. Should fantasy football owners acquire him via their fantasy football waiver wire if he’s available this week?

Absolutely!

Since Sims has been on the short-term injured reserve list all season long, head coach Lovie Smith said there is a very good chance he will finally make his NFL debut against the Cleveland Browns. Due to the Buccaneers not doing a good job at establishing their rushing attack, the team is desperately trying to find a long-term answer at the position. Sims could very well be that exclamation point the team needs to really have their ground game be a big part of the offense.

So far, his ankle has been said to be fine during practice and the green light has been given that he could finally get some reps on the field where it matters most this weekend. If for some reason he’s limited in action due to precautionary reasons due to his injury on Sunday, over the next few weeks he should definitely see an increased role on offense.

For owners who have an open roster spot or are thinking of unloading some unnecessary players or defenses this week, definitely check to see if Sims is available on the waiver wire. He has a huge upside and even though he might not be starting this week against the Browns, he will definitely be given the go-ahead to audition for his future role in the organization the rest of this season.

Overall, the sky is the limit for what Sims will bring to the table. The football world will know what he’s capable of over these new few weeks to determine just what kind of impact he will have not only on the Buccaneers, but also for his fantasy football stock value. Regardless, he’s worth investing in, at least for the next few weeks to see what his potential could be down the road.
