How many times this fantasy football season has anyone told you that you must start a Jacksonville Jaguar? Never? Well then, let me be the first.
Since taking over the starting running back reigns in Week 7, Denard Robinson has been a one-man offense and a double-digit scorer, fantasy wise of course. He had a breakout game against the Cleveland Browns in scoring 18 points (ESPN scoring) and backed it up last week against the Miami Dolphins with a 11-point performance. Not bad for a quarterback/running back/some sort of offensive weapon.
While on paper it may seem that Robinson and the Jaguars have a tough matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals (since the Bengals are an actual NFL football team), Robinson actually has another opportunity to further his fantasy success.
The Bengals’ defense, despite how stout it once was, has been handing out points to running backs like people will be handing out candy to witches, ghosts and Spud-niks tonight. Currently running backs are averaging 19 points a game against Cincy’s defense. I mean, they have up two touchdowns to Lorenzo Taliaferro last week. Who is that guy even!?
With Blake Bortles looking more and more like the construction project everyone expected him to be, I’d fully expect the Jaguars to come out running the ball and utilizing Robinson’s speed against a banged up Bengals’ linebacking corps. Run early and run often, that’s the “make sure Bortles doesn’t lose us the game” way.
Robinson is definitely a start as he will get points this weekend. Don’t bench Arian Foster for him, but Robinson deserves your flex or, if you’re feeling ambitious, your RB2.
