There is nothing worse in Fantasy Football than coming to the realization that a player selected in the first few rounds is not panning out, especially at the halfway point of the season. Whether it was someone taken in the first, second or third round, it still stings when they are giving little to no production on a weekly basis. These 10 Fantasy Football players are the men who have the most to prove in the second half of the season.

Look no further than Cordarrelle Patterson to find one of the biggest wide receiver busts of the season so far. A revolving door at the quarterback position for the Minnesota Vikings and inconsistency in other areas on offense has allowed defenses to suffocate Patterson. An 18-point performance in Week 1 has been overshadowed by two zero-point outings. Even worse, he has yet to hit double-digits outside of the first game of the season.

I understand Vernon Davis has dealt with his share of injuries, but I refuse to allow that to be an excuse. The biggest reason is because Davis has accomplished nothing when healthy, other than the 16 points he recorded in Week 1. The San Francisco 49ers’ passing attack has been dismal at best, which has definitely hurt Davis. The only hope is that Colin Kaepernick can pull it together and give Davis more than 26 targets.

Keenan Allen was ranked 26th on NFL.com’s 2014 Fantasy Football draft rankings. Since being selected within the first three rounds, Allen has gone on to post only 48 total points. That includes hitting double digits in just two of his nine games. Allen still remains owned in 89.2 percent of ESPN leagues, which means he will be given plenty of chances to improve in the second half of the season.

7. Montee Ball

Running back Montee Ball is another player who has dealt with injuries this season. Once again, excuses aren’t allowed here. ESPN’s 2014 Fantasy Football draft rankings had Ball at No. 25, which means owners expected a stellar performance from him. Instead, they have been rewarded with a plague of injuries and limited production when healthy. Ball is expected to return in Week 10, but there’s no guarantee he’ll take flight.

Reggie Bush was selected not too far after Ball in a majority of drafts, which means owners expected constant production from him as well. Even though a nagging ankle injury has prevented him from succeeding in recent weeks, he still hasn’t done much when healthy. In fact, other than his 15-point outing in Week 3, he has yet to record more than five fantasy points in a single game. A stellar second half could be in the cards if he gets it going.

5. Andre Johnson

Andre Johnson wasn’t happy with his contract situation prior to the start of the season, but it looks like the Houston Texans had the right idea in not giving in. Johnson was taken in the second or third round of a majority of drafts, but unfortunately, he hasn’t lived up to the expectations. He’s averaging an embarrassing 6.0 points per game, with his 13 points in Week 6 being the only time he hit double digits.

4. Eddie Lacy

Eddie Lacy could have been higher on this list, but the reality is he has started to come into his own in recent weeks, with the exception of his four points in Week 6. Still, Lacy was selected in the top 5 in most drafts, and he never fell out of the top 10. That means most owners feel they aren’t getting their money’s worth, especially with everyone else’s first-round picks tearing it up. The good news is he’s primed for a stellar second half.

No one should be surprised to see Adrian Peterson’s name on this list, especially since he could take the field as early as Week 11. He was the first overall pick in almost every single draft, and there might not be another player in the league that has more to prove in the second half of the season than him. The only reason he isn’t higher is because he physically was unable to play in the last eight games due to a suspension.

2. Zac Stacy

Talk about a Fantasy Football bust. Zac Stacy was drafted in the first two rounds in most leagues, which makes him one of the biggest disappointments of the season. His limited production (36 fantasy points) has forced the St. Louis Rams to place him in a secondary role behind Tre Mason. The fact that he’s owned in just 51.3 percent of leagues is shocking. He’ll have to make magic with his limited touches if he wants to turn it around.

It wasn’t long ago that Doug Martin was a fantasy owner's dream come true. Those days appear to be long gone. There are many Fantasy Football owners who are ripping their hair out over the decision to draft Martin in the first round, with most taking him early in the second round. With 23 total points (2.9 points per game) on the season, there isn’t a bigger bust than Martin in 2014. Fantasy gurus definitely got it wrong with his draft ranking.
