Fantasy Football Week 11 Waiver Wire Pickup: WR Cecil Shorts

The Jacksonville Jaguars did a lot in the 2014 NFL offseason to bring in offensive talent. The team drafted QB Blake Bortles with the third overall pick in the first round and added WR Marqise Lee in the second round. Plus, they also paid big money to bring in RB Toby Gerhart to carry the ball.

Lately, though, the team has started to see big performances from some of their lesser owned  fantasy football stars. One of these players that has finally started to produce has been WR Cecil Shorts.

Shorts missed several games in the beginning of the season due to a nagging hamstring injury. He was widely ignored and has been sitting on the waiver wire in almost nearly every forms, but he is coming off perhaps his best start of the 2014 season.

The wideout  hauled in five balls for 119 yards in Week 10 against the Dallas Cowboys. It was his second 100-yard outing in the past five games and was a very promising sign from a receiver that garnished a lot of attention this offseason. He looks like he is ready to start filling the box score.

Obviously, the Jags have a bye in Week 11, but Jacksonville has a great schedule for the rest of the year. They play some of the worst pass defenses in the league down the stretch of the fantasy season, including matchups against the Houston Texans (29th) in Week 14/17, Baltimore Ravens (24th) in Week 15 and Tennessee Titans (17th) in Week 16. Shorts could post some monster numbers in the coming weeks.

Shorts is worth grabbing as a WR5/WR6 this week in deeper formats. He won’t be a reliable weekly option, but he will be worth starting when he has a favorable matchup.
