Fantasy Football Week 11 Waiver Wire Pickup: TE Mychal Rivera

Mychal Rivera continues to be one of the few bright spots on a team still searching for its identity. The Oakland Raiders tight end has steadily improved on a weekly basis and has been under the radar as far as his fantasy stock value is concerned. Considering that this season can be written off as a failure for the Raiders, Rivera has shown glimpses of being a decent contributor of fantasy points as he’s on the rise.

Last week against the Denver Broncos, Rivera had six receptions for 62 yards and a touchdown. Over the last two weeks alone, he has hauled in three touchdowns despite the losing efforts by his team. A relationship between a reliable target and a rookie quarterback is priceless, and it seems that Derek Carr is establishing a nice one with him already.

As a safety net for his quarterback, Rivera is reaping the benefits of being able to finish drives in the end zone and do his best to make big plays. Fantasy owners should see if he’s available via the waiver wire; if so, he would be a nice addition to your roster. While he’s nowhere near a TE1 or TE2 option, he could be a decent flex option down the road.

This week, as Rivera prepares to face the San Diego Chargers, expect to see him continue having decent results. While he won’t exactly break the scoreboard in touchdowns, he is a good pickup to have considering the issues the Chargers have been dealing with lately. There are just about seven weeks left in the season, and fantasy owners could rack up some easy fantasy points with him on the lineup if all else fails.
