Fantasy Football Week 11 Start or Sit: Robert Griffin III

Robert Griffin III, Washington Redskins, Fantasy Football

Bruce Kluckhohn-USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Redskins welcomed quarterback Robert Griffin III back from an ankle injury in Week 9 against the Minnesota Vikings, and he played solidly in a losing effort, throwing for 251 yards with one touchdown and one interception along with 24 rushing yards.

Coming off a bye, a very favorable matchup is coming for Griffin in Week 11. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers enter the week allowing the fifth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks (18.1 per game; ESPN scoring), though it is worth mentioning they’ve allowed less than 250 passing yards in two of their last three games. But on the flip side, Tampa Bay has allowed at least 300 passing yards and two touchdown passes in all four of their road games to this point and Sunday’s game is at FedEx Field.

Griffin is reportedly practicing fully this week, which can only be good news after he looked to be close to full strength when he returned to action against Minnesota.

Week 11 is not a particularly tough bye week for fantasy football owners, with four teams idle and Tony Romo and Joe Flacco the only two notable quarterbacks with the week off. But for those that have Griffin on a roster, particularly in leagues where you can start two quarterbacks, this would be one of the weeks to consider starting him.

It’s worth noting that Griffin is still available in 42 percent of Yahoo! leagues, so he looks like an under the radar plug-and-play option at minimum as well as a solid choice in weekly contests. Otherwise, Griffin is worth starting as a low-end QB1 in 12 and 14-team leagues, and it would not surprise me if he is one of the highest scoring quarterbacks this week.
