Drew Stanton continues to make a name for himself due to how he executes on a consistent basis. The Arizona Cardinals quarterback has the commitment of the franchise to start for the rest of the season due to the unfortunate ACL injury to Carson Palmer. What should fantasy owners expect out of Stanton as he plays the top-ranked defense of the NFL in the Detroit Lions?
It won’t be an easy game by any stretch of the imagination, but before fantasy owners start to look elsewhere, keep in mind that he should do well against the Lions. In four games in which he’s played in, he’s thrown for over 600 yards, three touchdowns and not a single turnover. That’s right, no interceptions or lost fumbles, which makes him a possible sleeper candidate this week.
Fantasy owners should consider plugging Stanton in as their QB2 option. The only thing to really worry about is his completion rate, which so far this season is at 49.5 percent. Stanton has been waiting for quite some time to be given the keys to run it all on offense and should make the most out of this opportunity.
Overall, owners should put trust in Stanton this week since he will be a man on a mission to prove he has more than enough talent to get the job done. Even when filling in for Palmer when he went down with injury, he took care of business. This is a huge test for him this week against a strong Lions defense, but he is more than capable of handling it and delivering a victory.
