Fantasy Football Week 11 Start or Sit: Vincent Jackson

There is just one question to ask yourself when considering starting Vincent Jackson this week – how desperate are you? His ADP this year was roughly No. 32 overall, and he definitely hasn’t lived up to that. If you’re in a very deep league or have a roster full of wide-receiver injuries, Jackson might be worth your consideration.

He is living proof that a large amount of targets doesn’t always equal a large amount of production. Despite having the sixth-most looks in the league (90), Jackson has made just 40 grabs for 518 yards, which rank him at No. 30 and 39 in those categories, respectively. He also has just two touchdowns on the season.

A ton of targets are the only thing keeping Jackson fantasy relevant, and Mike Evans is sure to start stealing some of those. The rookie has made 39 catches for 585 yards with five touchdowns, and he’s done that with just 63 targets. Eventually, Josh McCown has to figure out that the guy who catches 62 percent of balls thrown his way is a better option than the guy who catches 44 percent.

The defensive matchup doesn’t inspire a lot of hope either. The Washington Redskins are middle of the pack in fantasy points allowed to wide receivers, and Jackson has done very little against some very fantasy-friendly defenses. Six out of of nine opponents he has faced rank in the bottom nine in points allowed to wide receivers. He managed just one double-digit fantasy performance from that soft schedule.

Jackson is a low-end WR3 at best, and there isn’t a lot of hope for things to get better. Pure desperation is the only reason to have Jackson in your lineup this week.
