Fantasy Football Week 12 Waiver Wire Pickup: RB C.J. Anderson

Get in line for Denver Broncos running back C.J. Anderson now, but don’t expect to get him unless you’re pretty high on the waiver order. He should be one of the most sought-after waiver wire pickups of the week.

Last Sunday against the St. Louis Rams, Anderson proved that even if the Broncos abandon the run, he can still be fantasy relevant. The eight receptions for 86 yards he compiled helped make up for the 29 rushing yards on nine carries. A double-digit fantasy performance isn’t too bad, considering the Denver offense only managed to put up seven points on the day.

Anderson won’t likely see a lot of competition for touches in the immediate future. Montee Ball was forced to leave Sunday’s game after he reaggravated the groin injury that kept him out for five games. Even if Ball is able to return this weekend, he disappointed with his opportunities before being sidelined, while Anderson has racked up 278 total yards and a receiving TD in his only two starts.

It’s doubtful that Ball would take a lot of touches if healthy, but Ronnie Hillman might be able to steal a few when he returns. Unfortunately for Hillman, his ailing foot could keep him out for up to six weeks according to Adam Schefter. Anderson should be considered at least a solid RB2 regardless of opponent.

The Broncos’ next four foes have defenses that rank No. 9 or better in fewest total yards allowed, but don’t let that sway you. Anderson will be heavily involved in both the rushing and passing attack of one of the league’s best offenses. As long as he’s leading the backfield, he is a must-add and a must-start.
