Alex Smith and the Kansas City Chiefs (7-3) face a division foe in the Oakland Raiders Thursday night in Oakland. The Chiefs, riding a five-game win streak, go into Thursday’s game looking to stay hot against a winless Raiders team.

Smith will face a Raiders team that has given up 235.4 yards per game, along with allowing an average quarterback rating of 100.4. He had a rough week last week against arguably the league’s best defense in the Seattle Seahawks, throwing for 108 yards and zero touchdowns. Smith has averaged a rather impressive 26.8 points on ESPN Fantasy standard scoring this year.

I believe he will be a very good start this week against a weak Raiders defense. His top two targets in wide receiver Dwayne Bowe and tight end Travis Kelce are both healthy and are poised to have big games. Although the receivers for the Chiefs haven’t scored a touchdown yet, I believe Thursday night’s game will be the game that the receivers record that first score. Oakland has been pathetic in pretty much every way imaginable this season, and this game on a short week should be no exception.

My prediction for Smith is he will throw for 250 yards and two touchdowns. He is a solid start if you don’t have a top-five quarterback and are looking for some reliable point production from your quarterback position.
