Due to the fickle nature of defensive performances from week to week, many fantasy football players have decided to simply stream their team defense per week. By doing this, they can take advantage of ideal matchups each week instead of hoping that they can rely on one defense to be dominant for the entire season. Week 12 has some interesting matchups and the following five defenses are your best streaming options.

Truthfully, with 71 percent ownership in Yahoo leagues and 60.3 percent ownership in ESPN leagues, the availability of the Chiefs defense may not be as much as other teams. However, the ownership percentage should be much higher, especially since Kansas City gets to face the 0-10 Oakland Raiders on the road. While this Thursday Night matchup might be a trap game for the Chiefs, you still have to like any defense when they face Oakland.

Normally, it would be a terrible idea to start a defense against the Saints at home, but they have been a different team as of late. They've lost their last two games at home including a rather embarrassing 27-10 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals this past Sunday. Additionally, they've lost Brandin Cooks for the next few games with a broken hand. This seems like an ideal spot to fire up the 46 percent universally owned Baltimore Ravens defense.

The Rams have been playing much better defense lately and it showed in their 22-7 upset of the Denver Broncos this past weekend. They are currently 34 percent owned in Yahoo leagues and only 11.4 percent owned in ESPN leagues. Admittedly, they don't have the best matchup against the San Diego Chargers, but the Bolts have been struggling offensively. It might be wise to strike while the iron's hot and start the Rams defense this week.

A short-term memory is key when it comes to the Colts' last two defensive performances. The massacre they suffered to the Steelers was without elite CB Vontae Davis playing for most of the game. Additionally, their most recent loss was against a white-hot Patriots team that no one seems capable of stopping right now. Guess who the Colts face in Week 12? None other than the 1-9 Jacksonville Jaguars. Therefore, start them and don't look back.

My No. 1 defense from last week is my top choice again for this week. Green Bay's defense is still only 35 percent owned in Yahoo leagues and 28.7 percent owned in ESPN leagues. They have averaged 23.5 fantasy points over the last two weeks and now get to face an offense that's potentially worse than their last two opponents in the Minnesota Vikings. Do not let a third week go by without reaping the benefits of the powerful Packers defense.
