Fantasy Football Week 12 Start or Sit: Davante Adams

There’s no hotter team in the NFL than the Green Bay Packers, and that’s in large part to near-perfect performances from QB Aaron Rodgers. Though most of his targets have fallen on Randall Cobb and Jordy Nelson, he has so many players at his disposal to take pressure off those two receivers. One of those players that has not been forgotten very often is Davante Adams.

Adams is an on-and-off player, simply because of how the Packers’ offense runs. Some days, defenses prep for him. Other days, they give too much attention to the main core of Cobb and Nelson and Adams gets a nine-target game. So most of Adams’ success from game-to-game falls on scoring, and he’s done so three times in the last six games. He could pick up substantial yardage depending on how many receptions he gets.

He’s reached the 70-yard mark only twice this season, so I’m not all that confident in him contributing yardage. However, this is a rare occasion that I say to take a shot with Adams in your starting lineup, even knowing that.

Like I said, there’s really no stopping the Packers and, with Rodgers tossing the rock all over the field, something valuable is going to land in Adams’ hands. They’re playing the Minnesota Vikings this week — who he scored on in Week 5 – and I expect he’ll either take a nice long reception or a red-zone score. Either way, he’ll be worth a good seven points this week, and maybe in store for his best game yet. Based on potential alone, I’d risk him as my FLEX option.
