Fantasy Football Week 12: Bench All Washington Redskins Players
With all the talent the Washington Redskins have on the offensive side of the ball, it’s surprising that they can’t compete with most teams. The quarterback can run, when healthy, and throw it downfield to two explosive wide receivers. To compliment that, their running back can be a top-10 back. However, in Week 12, all of those players should not be in your starting line up.
After missing most of the season with an ankle injury, Robert Griffin III was poised to come back to what he was back in his rookie season. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case. RGIII hasn’t been running effectively and thus getting knocked around. In his last two games, he has thrown for 458 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions.
With a banged up quarterback, the receivers cannot put up the numbers they’re used to. Looking at you DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon.
Granted, Jackson is the 13th-best wide receiver in ESPN standard scoring, but had a horrible game in Week 11. After putting up at least 115 yards in four of his last five, Jackson caught four passes for just 35 yards. Garcon hasn’t played up to his preseason value. He had his best game in Week 3 and has caught just two touchdowns since.
And if the passing game isn’t working, the running game won’t either. Alfred Morris is currently the 10th-best running back. Yet, he has had some favorable matchups over the last few weeks, the Dallas Cowboys, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Minnesota Vikings. With the offensive line not giving the quarterback protection or making wholes for the running back, the Redskins are in trouble for Week 12.
The Redskins face a tough San Francisco 49ers team. The defense is currently ranked eighth in fantasy. They allow the fifth-fewest passing and eighth-fewest rushing yards per game.
If you own another quarterback, which you definitely should if you own RGIII, and have other options in your skill positions, I would start them without question.
