Fantasy Football Week 12 Start or Sit: Charles Sims
Despite the Chicago Bears being ranked 25th in the NFL in allowing 256.4 rushing yards per game, there is no scenario where it is fine for Fantasy Football owners to start Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie running back Charles Sims in Week 12.
After missing the first nine games of the 2014 season after undergoing ankle surgery, Sims was added to the injury report this week with another ankle injury. But, that news should not be the only reason owners should bet against starting him. In just two games this season, Sims has rushed 21 times for 59 yards. He also has hauled in five receptions for 25 yards. The most glaring statistic is zero touchdowns, which is the biggest reason fantasy owners should stay away.
It is true that the Bears are allowing 4.3 yards per rush this season. That would typically be reason enough to start a young running back with plenty of upside. However, an owner would really have to be in a desperate position to consider him worthy of a start, even with a projection of six fantasy points in ESPN standard leagues.
The only reason for optimism is the fact that Sims is carrying the load for the Buccaneers as far as running the football. For that reason, there is always the possibility that he breaks open a run and finds the end zone. Not to mention, former Bears head coach Lovie Smith will want to do whatever it takes to beat his former team. Therefore, the Tampa Bay players will back him any way they can.
Still, I cannot with a good conscious advice anyone to start Sims in Week 12.
