Fantasy Football Week 12 Sleeper: Indianapolis Colts Defense

Colts Defense

Jim O’Connor-USA TODAY Sports

The Indianapolis Colts defense has been torn apart over the last few weeks. However, that will all change in Week 12 when they face the Jacksonville Jaguars. If you need a defense this week, the Colts defense is a nice pickup.

The Colts defense has been added in 25.8 percent over the last week, jumping their ownership percentage to 50.1 percent in ESPN.com leagues. With former “elite” defenses not playing up to their potential, the Colts have been filling in quite nicely.

The unit was carved up over the last three weeks by the Pittsburgh SteelersNew York Giants and New England Patriots. They have allowed 117 points and scored just -9 points in that span.

Luckily for the Colts, they have the chance to bounce back against the Jaguars. The two teams faced in Week 3. The Colts handled them and allowed 17 points, recording two interceptions a fumble recovery and a touchdown for 17 fantasy points. With the Jaguars offense one-dimensional with Denard Robinson as the superstar player, the Colts can take advantage by stacking seven or eight in the box.

The Jaguars allow opposing defenses to score a league-high 13.9 fantasy points per game. If you need a defense with the Steelers on bye, the Colts are a widely available unit to pick up.

Looking ahead, you may want to hold onto the Colts defense for the following week. The defense plays the Washington Redskins in Week 13. The Redskins offense has had its fair share of problems, allowing defensive lines to rack up sacks.

With the fantasy season quickly winding down, you need to pick up all the players you can to help your team. The Colts defense is one of those “players” to help you in the stretch run.
