Fantasy Football Week 13 Waiver Wire Pickup: WR Mohamed Sanu

For the most part, Fantasy Football owners are well aware of who Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Mohamed Sanu is and what he is capable of accomplishing on the gridiron. However, there are still several leagues that have him on the waiver wire. If that happens to be the case in your league, Sanu is a must grab.

In only his third year in the NFL, he is quickly becoming a quality weapon for quarterback Andy Dalton. More importantly, he has stood up for the Bengals this season when wide receiver A.J. Green missed playing time due to injury. When Green is in the lineup, Sanu still proves to be a solid playmaker, although it becomes more inconsistent. Regardless, there is clearly the potential to form quite the dynamic duo with Green.

I picked up Sanu in Week 6. For the most part, I have not been disappointed. In an ESPN standard league, he has put up as many as 18 fantasy points and as little as two fantasy points. The two fantasy points came in back-to-back weeks (Week 10 and 11), which certainly was harmful. At the same time, his 10.0 point average makes him a decent flex or third wide receiver.

Despite the inconsistency that makes some owners nervous, the fact is he has put up double-digit fantasy points in seven of 11 games this season. That is all the evidence I need to feel confident in starting him. Of course, the matchup is what is always key, regardless of the player.

The Bengals will take on a dismal Tampa Bay Buccaneers team in Week 13. It is true that Tampa Bay has shown signs of promise against the pass this season, but the reality is Sanu and the Bengals offense should have a field day through the air. The biggest telling statistic for that prediction is Tampa Bay’s 21 passing touchdowns they have given up this season.

Sanu’s 49 receptions, 719 receiving yards, five touchdown receptions and 14.7 yards per catch are career highs through 11 games.
