Top 5 Defenses To Pick Up In Fantasy Football Week 13

Due to the fickle nature of defensive performances from week to week, many fantasy football players have decided to simply stream their team defense per week. By doing this, they can take advantage of ideal matchups each week instead of hoping that they can rely on one defense to be dominant for the entire season. Week 13 has some interesting matchups, and the following five defenses are your best streaming options.

Before everyone calls me crazy for this pick, especially after watching the Giants defense give up 31 points on Sunday night, we need to remember this was against the Dallas Cowboys. Their upcoming opponent are the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars, and this bodes well for the G-Men. Blake Bortles has been a sack-taking turnover machine over his last four games, and New York looks poised to have their first double-digit fantasy output since Week 4.

4. Indianapolis Colts

The Colts' defense may be banged up, but it can still be extremely effective especially since players like Jerrell Freeman and Vontae Davis have luckily stayed healthy for the most part. It also helps that the Redskins team it will get to face is an absolute disaster offensively right now, and the Colts should take advantage. The unit is currently 70 percent owned in Yahoo! leagues and 53.1 percent owned in ESPN leagues, so claim them fast.

With low ownership numbers of 15 percent in ESPN leagues and 16 percent in Yahoo leagues, the Vikings' defense can pretty much be scooped up by any fantasy owner for Week 13. This looks to be a solid move as it gets to face the Carolina Panthers, who struggle offensively outside of WR Kelvin Benjamin. It's especially favorable for Minnesota's defensive line, which gets to face Carolina's offensive line that has a -52.5 grade in pass blocking.

2. Miami Dolphins

If any owner in your league dropped the Miami defense, then this is your time to pounce on what will be a huge mistake for Week 13. Many owners were disappointed with Miami's performance on Sunday, but no one should have expected it to excel against Peyton Manning at home. The unit has a much easier matchup on Monday Night Football against the New York Jets, and should nearly be 100 percent owned for this week.

1. St. Louis Rams

The Rams are owned in only 24.1 percent of ESPN leagues and 43 percent in Yahoo! leagues. While it's understandable why this would have been the case earlier, it shouldn't be the case now as the team has really stepped up its defense lately. The unit has posted double-digit scores in three out of its last four games, and that includes games against Peyton Manning and Philip Rivers. Facing the Oakland Raiders this week is a plus matchup.
