Alex Smith continues to be a conservative, yet successful kind of option to have on your fantasy team at quarterback. When it comes to his fantasy football value, he’s a safe bet when it comes to his passing yards, completions and of course touchdowns. Since the Kansas City Chiefs play all-around smart football utilizing everyone’s strengths to succeed, what should fantasy owners expect as Smith faces the Denver Broncos?
Despite the tough loss last week to the Oakland Raiders, Smith was still incredibly effective. He went 20-of-36 for 234 yards and two touchdowns. He has always been consistent as he basically never throws interceptions or turns the football over, but if he’s going to beat the Broncos, he will most likely play just a bit more aggressive to strike early and often.
Fantasy owners should definitely start Smith this week as he should throw for at least two, maybe even three touchdowns in what should be a shootout of a game. Quarterback Peyton Manning almost always puts on a show, and if the Chiefs plan to keep up with what he will do through the air, they must enable Smith to go head-to-head with the future Hall of Famer as well.
Smith doesn’t do it often, but he also knows when to move outside of the pocket and make plays on the ground by rushing to get close or even get the first down. It could add a few more fantasy points to his stat sheet that could be what owners need to squeak out a victory this week.
Overall, Smith should have a good game against the Broncos and is worthy of starting this week.
