Fantasy Football Week 13 Start or Sit: Cecil Shorts

The Jacksonville Jaguars sit at 1-10 and play the struggling 3-8 New York Giants in their Week 13 matchup.

It’s already a given to stay away from most of Jacksonville’s team when it comes to fantasy football and, for that matter, real football, as well. However, if you are desperate for a player due to injuries or other concerns, it might seem necessary to snag some points from a player who might get a touchdown or a few receptions in garbage time.

Jaguars wide receiver Cecil Shorts is a player who is available in many leagues, and one who you think could be an asset to your team in Week 13. However, stay away from Shorts and keep him on your bench

Blake Bortles has shown flashes at times, but he’s not going to throw for more than two touchdowns against the Giants. Best case scenario for Bortles is a 300 yard game, but even then a majority of the passes will be to Allen Hurns and Allen Robinson.

Shorts will get targets and will probably make a few big catches in garbage time, but the struggling Jaguars will likely rely heavily on Denard Robinson to run the ball on a horrible Giants’ run defense. The Giants rank 31st in the NFL in run-defense, so you can expect the Jaguars to use Robinson and Storm Woods far more than there receivers.

Stay away from Shorts, even if you’re desperate. There is likely a safer bet in free agency you can grab before the game.
