Fantasy Football Week 13 Start or Sit: Russell Wilson

Inconsistency can be detrimental for Fantasy Football owners throughout a season, especially when that inconsistency lands at the quarterback position. Seattle Seahawks signal caller Russell Wilson has been the poster boy for irregularity in fantasy stats this season. However, that is no reason to sit him in an incredibly important divisional matchup against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 13.

With more than 20 fantasy points in two straight outings, it is no wonder ESPN standard leagues have him projected for 22 points against the 49ers. The key ingredient is looking at whom he put up the 20-plus points against the last two weeks. The Kansas City Chiefs and Arizona Cardinals have been playing great football this season, especially on defense. Therefore, Wilson’s back-to-back solid performances prove that he has turned the corner and is on his way to finding some consistency as far as fantasy points are concerned.

A big reason for his 22-point projection is because he has thrown 14 touchdowns to just five interceptions in 11 games this season. He also has run for 644 yards and four touchdowns. The rushing statistics is what gives me confidence he can put up at least 20 points on San Francisco, even with the 49ers allowing the second-fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks (14.6) in 2014.

There probably is not a more middle-of-the-road quarterback to start in Week 13 other than Wilson, but that should not keep owners away, unless they have a far better option on the bench. It is all about taking chances in Fantasy Football, and Wilson is a chance worth taking.
