Fantasy Football Week 13 Start or Sit: Stedman Bailey

There are a lot of options in the St. Louis Rams‘ passing game, and Stedman Bailey is another new name that’s emerging. Bailey had his best game of 2014 season against the San Diego Chargers in Week 12, and is nice weapon for newly-named starting quarterback Shaun Hill.

Is Bailey someone who owners can trust on a week-to-week basis? He and  college teammate Tavon Austin were a great one-two punch during their time at West Virginia. Now in the NFL, the duo haven’t quite lived up to expectations just yet, but both have shown flashes on promise. Bailey was great in Week 12, making seven catches on nine targets for 89 yards and a touchdown. The 24-year-old receiver has some great hands and he displayed them on an amazing TD catch that was brought back due to a penalty.

The talent is there, and if Bailey can put up the same numbers that he did in Week 12, he would be worth a start. The problem with him is that the Rams’ offense is nothing but consistent. For Bailey to remain consistent, he must have solid quarterback play from Hill and his targets need to remain high.

It’s a lot to ask for if you’re a fantasy owner because Hill isn’t even one of the top-20 quarterbacks in the league and Bailey, despite his Week 12 showing, needs some more weeks of production to justify owners starting him.

With the fantasy football playoffs around the corner, it’s hard to call Bailey anything more than a low No. 4 wide receiver or a high No. 5. Keep tabs on Bailey and hope that his production continues, but unless you’re feeling lucky, there is no need to start him in Week 13 .
