Fantasy Football Week 14 Waiver Wire Pickup: RB Dan Herron

Dan Herron

Pat Lovell-USA TODAY Sports

The Indianapolis Colts are trying to reestablish its run game after losing Ahmad Bradshaw to a season-ending injury. The passing game will take care of itself, so it needs a complimentary rushing attack. The Colts have trotted out Dan Herron to share some carries and has looked well. If you need a productive running back, Herron should be an option for you.

In the last two games, Herron has 20 carries. Trent Richardson is just ahead of him with 21 carries. The difference is that Herron is more productive with his carries. Herron has 153 yards and a touchdown while Richardson has just 54 yards and a score. Herron has been given an opportunity to show off his skills. The Colts continue to try with Richardson, but it’s just not working.

In Week 13, Herron rushed eight times for 88 yards and a score. His 49-yard touchdown was the longest run play of the Colts season. Richardson’s longest rush attempt this season was 27 yards. As long as Herron continues to be productive, he should get equal carries to Richardson, if not take over the starting job at some point.

The Colts have one of the best offenses in the league. They could be even better if they could develop a consistent running game. Herron could be that player if he receives the majority of the carries.

He will look to continue his string of nice performances in Week 14 against the Cleveland Browns. The Browns allowed the Buffalo Bills to rush for 106 yards. The defense has allowed opposing running backs to score an average of 16.6 fantasy points per game this season.

Herron is owned in just 41 percent of ESPN.com and should be a hot commodity this week.
