Fantasy Football 2014: 5 Tight Ends with the Best Schedule

The fantasy playoffs are among us. Most leagues' playoffs begin in Week 14. If you made it this far, you have a pretty good lineup. However, you may be still need a player or two to solidify your team for a championship run. It's not about name value, it's about production and schedule. While you won't bench the top guys like Rob Gronkowski, Julius Thomas or Jimmy Graham, here are five tight ends with very favorable schedules.

5. Jordan Reed

Jordan Reed missed Week 12 with a hamstring injury. He came back in Week 13 against the Indianapolis Colts, the worst defese against tight ends. He hauled in nine passes for 123 yards. With matchups against the New York Giants (23rd) in Week 15 and Dallas Cowboys (29th) in Week 17, Reed could have some big games for the playoff teams as long as Colt McCoy continues to look his way.

4. Jared Cook

Jared Cook began building a connection with Shaun Hill. However, that idea shattered in Week 13 as Cook was targeted just once and didn't catch the pass. The St. Louis Rams passing game is growing exponentially with Kenny Britt, Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey getting more involved. With three games against the bottom-10 teams against the tight end, Cook should see more production in the final weeks.

3. Zach Ertz

Zach Ertz looked to be groomed to replace Brent Celek. He was being targeted much more than the veteran. Yet, his fantasy production isn't there. Ertz hasn't caught a touchdown pass since Week 6. With three games against each NFC East opponent coming up, Ertz should see a touchdown pass or two. The Cowboys, Giants and Washington Redskins all rank in the bottom 10 in defending opposing tight ends.

2. Delanie Walker

Delanie Walker is hoping that Zach Mettenberger will be ready for Week 14. In Week 12 against the Philadelphia Eagles, he caught five passes for 155 yards. The following week with Jake Locker under center, he had one catch for six yards. Walker and the Tennessee Titans play two teams ranked in the bottom three against the tight end (Colts and New York Jets). A healthy Mettenberger means big things for Walker in the final four games.

Jason Witten hasn't been the tight end he's used to being this season. Held scoreless in the first five games, Witten has come on strong recently. Between Weeks 8 and 12 (four games), he had 195 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Coming up on the schedule are the Chicago Bears, Philadelphia Eagles, Indianapolis Colts and Washington Redskins. Three of those teams rank in the bottom five of fantasy points allowed to tight ends.
