NFL FanDuel Week 14: Odell Beckham Jr. vs. Mike Evans

Odell Beckham

Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

Fantasy owners usually don’t covet rookie wide receivers as much as they are this season. There are five rookies that are ranked in the top 30 in fantasy among wide receivers. Granted, some are on better teams than others, but the talent is there. If you use FanDuel, there is a lot of pressure to pick the best lineup to win some money. Here, I will compare two rookie receivers that can be in anyone’s starting lineup.

Odell Beckham Jr.

We all saw the catch, whether it was live or a replay. It was an amazing catch. Since joining the New York Giants in Week 5, Beckham has been the spark the team needed on offense. With the loss of Victor Cruz, the Giants needed a superstar pass-catcher to step up and be the guy. He is currently the 24th-ranked fantasy wide receiver in ESPN.com leagues. Over his last four games, Beckham has 30 catches for 437 yards and two touchdowns. His great success has come from the lack of production from teammate Rueben Randle and others.

Up next on the schedule for the Giants are the Tennessee Titans. This is a dream matchup for the Giants despite being out of playoff contention. The Titans allowed Ryan Fitzpatrick to throw for 358 yards and six touchdowns. If Fitz can throw six, Eli Manning should be able to it, too

FanDuel Week 14 Salary: $8,200

Mike Evans

It’s hard to pinpoint a receiver that has had the stretch of games Evans has had from Weeks 9 to 12. He caught 24 passes for 505 yards and six touchdowns. Unfortunately, reality set in and the production sharply fell in Week 13. He caught just four passes for 49 yards, upsetting all fantasy owners who were expecting another huge game.

Evans’ production relies on the arm of Josh McCown. Over the last four games, McCown has thrown five touchdowns and five interceptions. Things won’t get easy for Evans, McCown and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as they play the Detroit Lions. The Lions have one of the best passing defenses in the league.

FanDuel Week 14 Salary: $8,100

Both receivers have completely opposite skill sets. Beckham is a small, super fast receiver while Evans can out-jump any defender and snatch the ball away in mid-air. With only a $100 difference between the two, I would go with Beckham. He has a much better matchup in Week 14.
