Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jordan Matthews has been one of the top rookies in fantasy football this season, catching 56 passes for 709 yards and 7 touchdowns. He has been especially effective with Mark Sanchez under center, making him a near must start every week.

However, Matthews is coming off a two catch, 23 yard game that has cast a little bit of doubt about how reliable he is for the all important Week 15 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. This is where one of the key adages of fantasy football comes into play: don’t out think yourself.

The Cowboys rank 25th in the NFL in pass defense, and the Eagles hung 33 points on them in Dallas two weeks ago. Matthews had four receptions for 51 yards and a score in that game, and the Cowboys simply don’t have the defensive backs to stop both him and Jeremy Maclin. Both the Eagles and Matthews are looking for a big bounce back game after last week’s frustrating loss to the Seattle Seahawks, and a huge matchup against the Cowboys with the NFC East at stake should bring out the best in the Eagles.

Matthews has been one of the most consistent receivers in fantasy in the second half of the season, and he is a solid WR3 or a low end WR2 this week. Sanchez has proven that he wants to get the ball to Matthews, and the rookie has scored five touchdowns in his last six games. The Eagles are not going to slow down their offense, and the questionable Dallas pass defense means that all their key players should be in for solid fantasy days.

Unless you have an absolutely ridiculous group of receivers, Matthews needs to be in your lineup this week. He’s only had one dud in the second half of the season, and the good matchup and motivation of winning the division bodes well for him and the Eagles. Don’t worry about last week, just start Matthews and enjoy solid production in this crucial week of fantasy football.
