Fantasy Football Playoff Challenge: A.J. Green Out In Wild Card Round

AJ Green - Fantasy

In an unfortunate turn for the Cincinnati Bengals, the team will have to play in Sunday’s Wild Card contest against the Indianapolis Colts without All-Pro wide receiver, A.J. Green. The absence will greatly impact the game and the fantasy football value of everyone involved.

Green didn’t practice on Friday as he continues to recover from a concussion, and he was previously listed as doubtful. With the game just hours away, though, the team decided to sit Green down for this Sunday’s Wild Card showdown.

Without the All-Pro wideout, Mohamed Sanu will take over as the team’s number one receiver. Sanu has hauled in 790 yards on the season to go along with five touchdowns. He also stepped up big when Green was injured earlier in the season, by posting two games with 120 receiving yards. He will see a steady number of targets in this game from QB Andy Dalton, and as a result, Sanu could be a decent sleeper play in daily formats.

Cincy will also rely much more on the run with Jeremy Hill and Giovani Bernard. Hill has been the main back lately, having carried the rock 23 times for 100 yards last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, Bernard is much more active in the passing game and will likely see a few extra targets out of the backfield with Green on the sideline.

So if you are looking for a top-tier wideout in the first round of the Fantasy Football Playoff Challenge, make sure to avoid Green in the first round.
