Not too long ago, Tiger Woods was on top of the fantasy golf world, but then injuries became his demise. As Woods tries to vigorously work back to an elite form, golf has had a youth movement that pushed Woods to the wayside. The new era of young golfers have emerged, but Woods is looking to rejuvenate his career, and now his 2015 season begins at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

The 39-year-old Woods is not the player that he used to be and for his debut in 2015, he remains a risky play. In 2014, Woods played in three tournaments and his highest finish (N0. 25) was at the World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship. Based on his lack of play year, and his poor performances when he did, there is no certainty that Woods will turn back the clock and become the elite golfer that he once was.

One thing that is in Woods’ favor is the recent success that he has had in the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Woods has played in this tournament three times and finished with two top-10 finishes and one in the top-20. Despite his success in the tournament, Woods’ last time partaking in the Waste Management Phoenix Open was back in 2001 and it’s safe to say that Woods does not have the same skill set that he once did.

There is a ton of risk comes with Woods in this tournament. Right now, at this point of his career, it is hard to predict what kind of player he is going to be. For those that want to take a gamble on Woods, go right ahead, but just remember there are a lot of options out there, and they’re more reliable.

Woods may find some success in 2015, but its not wise to take a chance on him this early. Back in 2013, Woods came away with a five win season so he could run hot at some point during the year and win a few tournaments. The best recommendation for this tournament is to wait and see how Woods performs and let someone else take the chance on him.
