Building the Perfect NBA FanDuel Lineup for Jan. 28

As we approach the NBA All-Star Break, FanDuel is giving us a great slate of tournaments for another Super Wednesday. This includes the Super Slam tournament which will be paying out $ 40,000 to first place this time rather than the typical $ 30,000. This means that building the perfect lineup is crucial tonight with 11 games to sift through. I'm about to show you one way to build the perfect roster, so let's dive in.

Kyrie Irving struggled a little bit when LeBron James made his return, but now he's in a nice groove along with the rest of the Cleveland Cavaliers during their current seven-game winning streak. Over the course of that streak, Irving has averaged 40.2 fantasy points and now gets to face the Portland Trail Blazers who have been absolutely horrendous against PGs lately. Cleveland should extend their streak to eight and Irving should drop 37-plus.

For those who don't know much about this former Texas Longhorn, D.J. Augustin can be a very productive PG when given the minutes. He's done it in Charlotte, Chicago and will now do it for the Detroit Pistons with Brandon Jennings out for the season. He's averaged 40.1 fantasy points since taking over as the starter and has a great chance to flirt with 40 again facing the Philadelphia 76ers, who rank 24th against opposing PGs.

7. (SG) DeMar DeRozan - Toronto Raptors - $6,800

DeMar DeRozan for under $ 7,000 against the Sacramento Kings? Yes, please and thank you. After hitting a three-game skid since returning from injury, DeRozan has averaged 38.2 fantasy points over his last two contests. He needs to score 34 in order to make value, and facing a Kings team ranked 20th against opposing SGs increases his chances to do that. Before his price gets raised to $ 7,500, roster him and enjoy 35-plus for a discounted price.

6. (SG) Arron Afflalo - Denver Nuggets - $5,900

Arron Afflalo stumbled out of the gates early in the season, but he's quietly settled back into the type of production expected of him. Over his last four games, he's averaged 30 fantasy points and has consistently scored between 24 and 37 over his last 10 contests -- excluding a dud performance of 4.2. His chances of a dud against the New Orleans Pelicans tonight are slim as they rank 26th against SGs. I like Afflalo to score between 28 and 36.

I shouldn't have to explain much here. The King is on a mission and has the Cavaliers playing their best basketball of the season right now. While this is bad news for the Eastern Conference, it's good news for us since he's a safe bet to score at least 45 regardless of the opponent. He's averaged 51.1 fantasy points over his last four games, and tonight's victim, the Portland Trail Blazers, will be the team he drops 50-plus on next.

4. (SF) DeMarre Carroll - Atlanta Hawks - $5,400

Over his last three games, DeMarre Carroll has averaged 26 fantasy points which has him mostly justifying his price. The beautiful thing about him is that he's not dependent on his scoring to contribute great fantasy outputs. He contributes in all categories and doesn't turn the ball over much. Facing a Brooklyn Nets team that's been struggling mightily to defend SFs lately is a great opportunity for him to score between 25 and 34.

I don't hear enough people talking about Donatas Motiejunas even though he's been extremely consistent for the Houston Rockets as a starter. Over his last 10 games, he's averaged 25.3 fantasy points and has shown that he has 30-plus upside given the right matchup. Tonight will provide one of those matchups as the Dallas Mavericks don't defend PFs well and are ranked 23rd in that regard. Motiejunas should score at least 28 tonight.

2. (PF) Brandon Bass - Boston Celtics - $5,100

Ever since he started receiving a starter's complement of minutes, Brandon Bass has averaged 28.1 fantasy points. Those minutes, unless he gets traded, won't be going down for at least the next two weeks since Kelly Olynyk is sidelined with an injury. Bass' minutes should be in the 30-range, and he faces a Minnesota Timberwolves team tonight that's awful at guarding frontcourt players. Bass should exceed value and score 30-plus.

Not only does the Polish Hammer get to face his former team tonight in the Phoenix Suns, but he also gets to face their defense against centers that's ranked dead last. Additionally, they haven't been defending the position well over their last three to 10 games either. Therefore, the Suns are ripe for Gortat to pick them apart, and I expect him to finish with a double-double and a 30-plus fantasy point performance.
