The 2015 fantasy baseball season will begin next month, which only gives us a couple more weeks to form a draft strategy. To help you strike gold in the first round, here are five players to avoid in the first round this spring.

Brantley continues to climb up draft boards this offseason after posting a .327 average, 20 HRs, 94 runs and 23 stolen bases in 2014. It was a break out season by all means, but it doesn't necessarily make him a reliable first round pick. Don't overpay for this one-hit wonder this spring.

Even though Cano still played in 157 games in 2014, his numbers dropped significantly across the board. He hit only 14 total home runs to go along with 82 RBIs. He may have still posted a .314 batting average, but the drop in power will keep him from cracking the first round this spring.

Tulo is no doubt one of the top sticks in fantasy when he is healthy. Unfortunately, he has not been able to stay on the field. He has missed a whopping 222 games over the last three seasons alone. He should be the first shortstop of the board this season, just wait to get him in the second round.

2. OF Carlos Gomez, Milwaukee Brewers

Gomez may have hit 23 homers last season to go along with 40 stolen bases, but he hit .284 last season to go along with only 73 RBIs. Gomez will never post Mike Trout numbers, so don’t draft in the first round expecting them to magically appear.

After hitting 30 or more HRs in seven straight seasons, Cabrera slugged only 25 dingers last season. The decline is already starting for Cabrera, and even though he will likely still post All-Star numbers, he won't be worth the high asking price. Let someone else jump on Miggy in the first round this spring.
