It seems to be a matter of if, and not when, the Philadelphia Phillies will trade pitcher Cole Hamels. The left-hander has said himself that he wants to be traded, and Phillies' general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. should still be fielding offers.

Assuming he is dealt soon enough for it to make a difference, here are my top five landing spots for Hamels from a fantasy baseball angle this year.

A recent report suggested the Yankees have come the closest to acquiring Hamels, and Amaro Jr. said that one team has recently ramped up their interest in the left-hander. Pitching in a very hitter-friendly home park would be nothing new for Hamels, so the only potential concern would be moving to the American League.

Trade talks between the Phillies and Red Sox involving Hamels have apparently stalled, but things could always re-ignite at some point if Philadelphia's asking price comes down or Boston becomes willing to part with a couple high-level prospects. Overall, Hamels would still be a fantasy ace atop the Red Sox rotation.

Hamels is a San Diego native, so the Padres may be his preferred destination and he has a 1.78 ERA over eight career starts at Petco Park. New Padres' general manager A.J. Preller was aggressive during the offseason, and if he is willing to part with a couple top prospects a deal could get done.

Yu Darvish may need Tommy John surgery, so the Rangers, armed with prospects and the ability to take on his contract, may have renewed interest in Hamels. Pitching home games in Arlington would not be great for Hamels, but he cedes enough ground balls (46 percent in 2014) to ease that downside and three other parks in the AL West are very pitcher-friendly.

The Dodgers have the means to take what remains of Hamels' contract ($96 million minimum). They would surround him with a very good team, in a much more pitcher-friendly home park than he's been accustomed to.
