Fantasy Football 2015 Buy or Sell: Owen Daniels

Broncos

When the Baltimore Ravens lost Dennis Pitta to a devastating injury in 2014, veteran TE Owen Daniels stepped in and did what can only be described as a season-saving job. However, Baltimore insanely decided against re-signing Daniels, and he landed in the perfect possible destination with the Denver Broncos.

Daniels and current Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak were together for eight years with the Houston Texans. Kubiack undoubtedly knows how to properly utilize Daniels’ skillset, and Peyton Manning knows how to get the best of just about everyone — so you better believe Daniels will flourish in 2015 fantasy football.

Although he’s never been a household name nationally, and in spite of his fair share of injuries, Daniels has been one of the most consistent players (when healthy) at the position of his era.

We all know how Manning turned Julius Thomas into one of the most feared pass-catching tight ends in the NFL. While the Broncos project to place extra emphasis on running the ball this season, there’s still going to be plenty of red zone looks allocated to the tight end position. Although Virgil Green‘s been solid in camp, I firmly believe Daniels will be the main beneficiary.

Currently, Daniels is being drafted as the TE14 and carries an ADP of 116 according to the FantasyPros charts. Here’s a projection for what his statline should look like by the end of the regular season:

Receiving Projection: 55 receptions – 610 yards – seven TDs

Drafting a tight end in the tenth round with Daniels’ upside is a rare occurrence. If this is indeed the scenario that unfolds in your draft, it’s your duty to pull the trigger.
