The first sign of spring is here, with pitchers and catchers starting to report, and fantasy baseball draft prep is ready to roll. With an eye on the American League Central specifically, here are my top 10 fantasy options in the division for 2016.

10. Detroit Tigers 2B Ian Kinsler

Kinsler's home run and RBI totals dropped in 2015, and he also ran less (10 stolen bases). A rebound to a 20-20 season is not likely, but Kinsler still offers fantasy owners double-digit home runs and steals, 80-90 runs scored and a solid average.

9. Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco

Carrasco was a top 10 pitcher in all of baseball in K/9 rate (10.6) and FIP (2.84) in 2015, with a career-high 183.2 innings pitched. Crossing the 200-inning plateau is a logical next step, and Carrasco is in line for a breakout 2016 season.

8. Detroit Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera

Age and durability are becoming factors for Cabrera, and his power numbers are in decline. There's risk in investing a first-round pick, but with solid health, a .300 average with 30 home runs and 100 RBIs is in the cards for Cabrera in 2016.

7. Detroit Tigers OF Justin Upton

Upton signed with the Tigers, and he'll step into left field along with a spot in the middle of the order. He won't help much in batting average, but otherwise Upton should help fantasy owners in multiple categories and cannot be overlooked.

6. Kansas City Royals RP Wade Davis

Davis has closer stuff (12.1 K/9 over the last two seasons), and with Greg Holland gone he'll now get a full season of save opportunities to match. With 40-50 saves on the radar, Davis belongs among the elite fantasy closers.

5. Chicago White Sox 3B Todd Frazier

Frazier hit 35 home runs with the Cincinnati Reds in 2015, and he'll remain in a hitter-friendly home park. Position scarcity plays a part in his spot on this list, but Frazier is arguably the third-best fantasy third baseman in the American League.

4. Minnesota Twins 2B Brian Dozier

Bad batting averages and two straight late-season fades are not ideal, but Dozier's power and speed combination is rare at second base. He's also still at a prime age (29 in May).

3. Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber

Outside of a slight drop in K/9 rate (9.9) and spike in fly ball rate as the season went on, Kluber's 2015 was basically a copy of his 2014. Run support might remain an issue, but fantasy owners should see Kluber as a great draft value in 2016.

2. Kansas City Royals 1B Eric Hosmer

Hosmer is one of my favorite breakout candidates, with a late power surge (10 home runs over the final 75 games of 2015), upside age (26) and being on a good team as marks pointing toward it. Hosmer could be a draft steal.

1. Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale

Sale's delivery adds injury risk, but his 2015 numbers (11.8 K/9, 2.73 FIP, 6.5 K/BB) are ace-worthy. Without a few clunker starts, he would have been even better. Add in the prospect of better run support, and Sale is in line for a big 2016.
