Building Perfect MLB FanDuel Lineup For Apr. 11

By Roje Smith

Yesterday’s lineup was a disappointment as it was only able to muster 117 points. This was mostly due to zero production coming from David Ortiz, Stephen Vogt and Alcides Escobar. They all had plus matchups, but failed to deliver the goods. We will look to get back on the winning side of things tonight as the MLB is giving us six games to analyze. With that being said, let’s start building the perfect MLB FanDuel lineup for April 11.

Steven Matz will make his 2016 debut against the Miami Marlins tonight and I feel that he should be successful. Miami has seven RHBs in their lineup tonight and players with that handedness had a .278 wOBA against Matz last year. Miami may put a couple of runs on the board against him, but I'm not expecting any more than that. Matz should be able to go at least six innings with six strikeouts and the win.

(C) Stephen Vogt - Oakland Athletics - $2,700

I recommended Stephen Vogt yesterday against Felix Hernandez and it didn't work out well. Vogt had a very good history against "King Felix", but Hernandez was too dominant. This won't stop me from going to the well one more time with Vogt against Nick Tropeano tonight. Vogt hits well against RHPs and Tropeano has pitched worse against LHBs. This should lead to a bounceback performance for Vogt.

Ryan Zimmerman has a .378 wOBA so far this season and I feel that he will raise that number tonight. He will take his swings against Bud Norris and we all know that he isn't a very good pitcher. Zimmerman is batting .381 against Norris over 21 ABs and I feel this will lead to a productive night for him. If he doesn't hit a HR, then I can see him registering two hits and at least one RBI.

Robinson Cano is off to an extremely hot start this season and his .433 wOBA is the proof. He will face Colby Lewis and the Texas Rangers tonight and it's a very good spot for him. Cano is batting .345 against Lewis over 29 ABs including two HRs and three doubles. Additionally, his K-rate against Lewis is only 9.8. I feel this will lead to Cano hitting his fifth HR of the season and registering at least two RBI.

Robinson Cano isn't the only Seattle Mariner that is in a good spot against Colby Lewis. Kyle Seager has just as good of a chance to be as success ful as Cano due to his good history against Lewis. Seager is batting .333 against him over 30 ABs including two HRs and two doubles. This bodes well for him to register a couple of hits and at least one RBI. To be honest, it wouldn't surprise me at all if he hit his second HR of the year.

(SS) Zack Cozart - Cincinnati Reds - $2,700

Zack Cozart has surprised me this season with his hot start. He has a .396 wOBA so far and will look to continue his early success against Jon Lester and the Chicago Cubs tonight. It won't be an easy task since Lester is one of the better pitchers in baseball. However, Cozart hits better against LHPs and Lester has pitched worse against RHBs throughout his career. This lead to Cozart registering at least one hit and possibly one run scored.

(OF) Bryce Harper - Washington Nationals - $5,200

As far as I'm concerned, Bryce Harper is always in play since he is arguably the best hitter in baseball right now. So far in the 2016 season, he has an insane .602 wOBA and no one has managed to strike him out yet. He will face Bud Norris tonight and the matchup is almost too good for him. In short, I expect Harper to hit his third HR of the year tonight. If he doesn't, then he should register a single, double and at least one RBI.

(OF) Dexter Fowler - Chicago Cubs - $3,400

Dexter Fowler is back in the Cubs' lineup tonight after getting a day off yesterday. I really like his chances for success against Brandon Finnegan tonight especially since Finnegan is a southpaw. Fowler hits much better against LHPs and I'm expecting that to be on display tonight. While I would love for him to hit a HR, my realistic expectation is that he'll register an XBH, a BB and score at least one run.

(OF) Michael Conforto - New York Mets - $2,500

Michael Conforto has been the best hitter for the Mets so far in 2016 and his team-best .372 wOBA is the proof. He will be batting sixth tonight as he takes his swings against Jarred Cosart, and I like his upside in the matchup. Although Cosart struggles a bit more with RHBs, LHBs can still do damage against him. Conforto is already 2-for-2 against him with two doubles and I'm expecting another double tonight. He might even hit a HR.
