Point Guard

Ricky Rubio $14,600

We have an 8 game slate on our hands with plenty of different ways to go at each position. Rubio and the T-Wolves face off with the Wizards in what figures to be a very exciting game. With only a 1 point line and a 214.5 over/under, there are plenty of ways to approach this game. Point guard is actually one of the weaker positions of the day, which is extremely rare. Rubio has been playing huge minutes and the production has certainly followed. He has been over 40 FP in 3 of his last 4, which is more than enough at his price. John Wall is a fine defender, but the Wizards play fast and he isn’t good enough to make up for the uptick in pace. Rubio makes for an extremely safe cash game option and definitely has the upside for tournaments.

Jamal Murray $7,600

Jameer Nelson is listed as questionable but looking a little more doubtful as of now. If Nelson misses, you have to get a lot of exposure to Jamal Murray. The Nuggets have been getting him over 20 minutes in every game and he will see over 30 if Nelson sits. He’s been a great FP per minute player, averaging 1.3 FP per minute since the start of 2017. The Lakers are also one of the best possible match-ups for a PG, as they rank 29th in the league over the last 30 games. Murray is sitting in the mid 7k’s on DraftDay, which is more than fair. Murray makes for almost a must play if Nelson is out and remains a good tourney option if Nelson plays.

Shooting Guard

Bradley Beal $15,000

This is a game I will look to target a ton as both teams play the starters big minutes and have rather concentrated offenses. Beal has been playing extremely well lately, topping 30 fantasy points in every game since February 4th. He has also been over 40 on a regular basis with a few games over 50. Beal is truly one of the best shooters in the game and has the upside to score 40 real-life points on any day. The match-up with the Wolves is a pretty good one, especially with LaVine out for the season. Brandon Rush is a pretty average defender and Beal should be able to use his speed to get around him. Beal is also just a bit too cheap on DraftDay, where he should be around 17k in this match-up. I’m willing to move on from the Beal we have seen the last few years and trust that we can play him in cash games.

Seth Curry $11,400

Curry had an atrocious game last time out, finishing with 8 fantasy points in a terrific match-up with the Suns. We’re just gonna chalk that on up to a cold night from the field. He won’t shoot 10% again, don’t worry. Curry has been a guy that’s been sitting around 30 points lately, with the upside for around 45. This match-up with the Raptors is very neutral, as DeRozan isn’t really worried about defense with Lowry out. Curry has been pushed to around 35 minutes per game over the last week or two, which is more than enough for a guy who averages 1.3 FP per minute on the season. At just 11.4k on DraftDay, Curry is a guy I will have exposure to in both cash games and tournaments.

Small Forward

Andrew Wiggins $14,750

Wiggins has been on a cold spell as of late, which should definitely keep his ownership down. Before the last 5 games of disappointment, Wiggins was over 40 fantasy points in 6 straight and over 55 in two of those. He has insane upside and this is the type of match-up where he can excel. Otto Porter, like John Wall, is a good defender that gets troubled by the crazy pace the Wizards play at. Wiggins will be just fine here and will have a huge game if his shot falls. His price is also very fair, as it was sitting above 18k all through last week. This is a game that will be popular among the masses, but rightfully so. Outside of the Lakers game, it has the highest over/under and closest line. Wiggins is one of the guys I’m a bigger fan of in tournaments, but he’s also interesting in cash games at the price. He will see close to 40 minutes in this match-up.

Giannis Antetokounmpo $20,050

I’m not crazy, I promise. I know the Grizzlies are a very tough match-up and it’s nearly impossible for a star to exceed value against them. I get it. I just think this situation could play out and be VERY interesting. With the Bucks running out a lineup of Delly, Middleton, Snell, Giannis, and Maker, that will leave Jamychal Green on either Giannis or Khris Middleton. With Middleton being extremely fast, I don’t see that as a possibility. So, that presumably leaves us with Jamychal Green covering Giannis. That should get ugly extremely quick and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Tony Allen on him by the 4th quarter. It may be a bit too late by then and he could have you at the top of the leaderboard. With all of that being said, this is a tournament option only. The Grizzlies could switch it up and put Allen on Giannis, which hampers his expectation to a huge degree.

Power Forward

Nikola Jokic $19,100

Jokic managed to destroy the Kings for nearly 50 fantasy points in just 27 minutes of work. We should be used to this by now. Jokic is one of the most talented players in the league, especially down low. He is also just 21 years old, so there’s going to be a lot of growing pains. Most guys his age are about to enter the NCAA tournament, so take it easy on the kid. He gets a ridiculous match-up here with the Lakers, who have ranked dead last against centers (where Jokic really plays) allowing almost 50 FP per game. Jokic is a little bit risky due to his uncertainty in minutes, but I’ll have some exposure everywhere. If he gets 35 minutes, we could see another triple-double.

Willie Cauley-Stein $9,800

On DraftDay, WCS is still way too cheap. He gets a pretty good match-up here with the Magic, who are pretty inept down low. Cauley-Stein is far bigger than Aaron Gordon, who he will be matched up with to start the game. WCS has been seeing around 30 minutes per game, which is more than enough for a guy who has been shooting as much as him. He only needs about 25 at this price, which he could hit in the 3rd quarter if the game plays out like expected. Kosta Koufos can’t be trusted and the Kings will make sure to get their future big man some looks. WCS is a guy I like in all formats, though he makes more sense for cash games.

Center

Marc Gasol $15,400

With the Bucks running out Thon Maker at the 5 recently, this is a simple mismatch. I feel like you guys are smart enough where I don’t really need to write anything else. Maker is a rookie 7-foot stick that is 180 pounds soaking wet and absolutely no low-post presence. Gasol is one of the best big men in the world and will absolutely dominate Maker every possession. I only expect it to last about 3 or 4 minutes and Gasol will likely score on the first 4 or 5 possessions. They will then put Greg Monroe or John Henson on Gasol, who are both garbage defenders in their own rights. Center isn’t too great and Gasol gives you a very solid floor and ceiling in a game that should be close.

Marcin Gortat $11,100

Gortat will bookend our exposure to this game as a very safe, risk-averse play. This game is full of a lot of guys who are very streaky shooters and have a huge range of scores, so it’s nice to have a guy that’s a near lock for a double-double and 25 fantasy points. While he may not provide you with the same upside a Wiggins or Beal does, he gives you 36 minutes in a fast-paced game with plenty of peripherals up for grabs. While Towns is a stud on offense, he has struggled mightily this year on defense, especially with the PnR. Gortat is a cash game play that will likely hit value in the 3rd quarter and gives you the upside for 40 on a big night.
