Point Guard

Elfrid Payton $10,950

This is a slate with some very interesting options at each position, starting with point guard. With a lack of value as a whole on the slate, I find it extremely tough to reach up and grab Westbrook. For that reason, I will look down in the range of 10-15k, where there are a few guys I like. Elfrid Payton is my favorite of the bunch, facing off with the Raptors in what figures to be a great DFS scoring game. Cory Joseph has been manning the PG spot for the Raptors lately and is simply a below average defender. Payton will be able to use his speed and elusiveness to get to the rim with ease. Once at the rim, Jonas Valunciunas won’t have much to say. He’s one of the least intimidating rim protectors in the league and will be taken advantage of. Payton has been playing great lately and should follow it up with another 35-50 fantasy point performance. Payton is underpriced on DraftDay and I will make sure to have exposure in both cash games and tournaments.

Mike Conley $15,950

Conley and the Grizzlies will take on the Kings, who are a cupcake match-up. While there is definitely a small risk of a blowout, the Kings should be able to hang around. They have been playing well lately and will be hosting the Grizz in Sacramento. Conley will face off with Darren Collison, who is far from a good defender. Conley is one of the more consistent guards in the NBA and regularly puts up 35-40 fantasy points. The Kings play quite a bit faster than the Grizzlies and Conley should see an uptick in shots as well as his peripherals. Gasol and Conley have both been seeing healthy minutes lately and I expect it to continue as the playoffs are beginning soon. I’m willing to target in both cash games and tournaments.

Shooting Guard

DeMar DeRozan $17,500

We will be targeting this game a ton on a slate with some very good defense, so be aware. DeRozan is one of the top stars on the night and I actually don’t expect him to be too highly owned. With his price increasing steadily, the ownership has dropped. He gets a fantastic match-up with the Magic, who can’t guard any elite scorer, let alone a shooting guard. DeRozan has taken a lot of the responsibilities with Lowry out and it’s shown in his fantasy numbers. With 50 fantasy points in 2 of the last 3, you can count on DeRozan to take initiative and put on a show tonight. Fournier and Ross are both average defenders and DeRozan will be able to get around them with ease. DeRozan is a solid option in both cash games and tournaments.

Terrence Ross $9,700

On the other side of this game, we are going to take a look at Terrence Ross. Ross went through a little rut after the trade, but has evened back out and is now putting together a solid stretch of games. The Magic have been giving Ross the minutes and he has started to pay off. He will be needed to stay with DeRozan tonight as he’s the only one with the athleticism to somewhat cover him. He will see a pretty easy match-up against DeRozan, who will be exerting most of his energy on the offensive end. Ross is underrated around the industry and is a guy I will have exposure to in both cash games and tournaments. Ross is returning to the Raptors, where he was traded from about a month ago. You have to love a little redemption.

Small Forward

Harrison Barnes $11,750

Harrison Barnes and the Mavs will face off with the Thunder tonight in what is one of the other high-scoring affairs on the slate. While the Mavs have definitely buoyed down the total, the Thunder play too fast to ignore. Harrison Barnes will be covered by both Andre Roberson and Victor Oladipo. Roberson is a good on-ball defender and Barnes will struggle a tad bit. When Roberson isn’t on him though, things could get tough. Roberson will be needed to guard Seth Curry when the Mavs go small, which will force a PF on Barnes. He will be able to take advantage and should have another one of his quality games. Barnes is an elite play at SF in all formats.

Marcus Morris $10,600

Marcus Morris and the Pistons face off with the Knicks in a game that will be pretty boring to watch. While the Pistons are still grabbing at straws, they have been playing horribly. Morris included, the Pistons have struggled putting the ball in the basket and stopping others from doing so. The Knicks should help them turn that all around, as they have sported the league’s worst defensive efficiency since the All-Star break. Carmelo and Lance Thomas will both cover Morris and neither are too scary. I’m willing to bet Morris gets himself off the snide tonight. While he makes more sense in tournaments, I will have him everywhere.

Power Forward

Kevin Love $14,250

K-Love is definitely a bit risky against the Spurs. They play slow and don’t give up a lot of rebounds. I definitely understand the concern. With that being said, the Cavs want to win this game. With the season winding down, Lue and LeBron will want to make a statement against one of the league’s best. This includes playing Love big minutes as he’s been limited recently. At just 14.2k on DraftDay, I wholeheartedly expect Love to destroy value. LaMarcus Aldridge is a subpar defender that will have trouble staying with Love on the perimeter. I’m a fan in all formats and will likely have 100% exposure. I love Love today.

Nerlens Noel $10,450

I wanted to put a few guys that are more tournament options, as it isn’t too hard to just list out the top expensive plays of the night. Noel is a guy who will go under looked and has the potential to put up 50. The Mavs have been giving him more minutes lately and he’s come through. The Mavs face off with a Thunder team that plays incredibly fast, as already mentioned. Noel plays well in fast-paced matchups as he relies on transition buckets and peripherals. The Thunder will likely throw Kanter at Noel, who is nowhere near a good defender. I expect Noel to either end with 10 or 40 tonight. Don’t see too much of an in-between.

Center

Andre Drummond $16,650

Like I said, it’s hard to trust any of these Pistons. They have been playing like trash and Stan Van Gundy is obviously pretty annoyed. With that being said, we have to trust the professionals. Drummond is a VERY good center and there are times where we will pay almost 20k for him. He is just in a rut right now and isn’t making much happen. That will likely change against a Knicks team who can’t cover centers. Hernangomez and O’Quinn are both extremely weak on the defensive end. Drummond should be able to top 10 rebounds with ease and be on his way to a huge double-double. The price is a little bit high for his recent production, so don’t be surprised to see him come in under-owned. Drummond is a guy I will have exposure to in both formats.

Willie Cauley-Stein $9,100

I know, it’s tough to target a big against the Grizzlies. However, hear me out. WCS is an absolute stud and has the type of length to give the best of defenders problems. While Gasol is an absolute stud in the paint, I expect WCS to use his shot-making and length to go around him. Cauley-Stein has been playing tremendously since Cousins has been traded and he is a guy the Kings look at as part of the future. He will once again see around 30-35 minutes and makes for an excellent play across the board.
