NHL Fantasy Hat Trick
Hot and Cold Edition
February 18th, 2012

This is a fantasy hockey based weekly blog, where I will feature 3 hot and 3 cold players each week, every weekend. So that you can use my suggestions, update and prepare your fantasy teams accordingly for the coming week.

3 HOT
Corey Perry (ANA) – The goal leader for the NHL this week was Perry of the Anaheim Ducks. Perry continues his hot streak as he scored his seventh goal in the last six games. The native of Peterborough, Ontario, next goal is the break the 30 goal mark for the third time in his seven NHL seasons.

David Desharnais (MTL) – Desharnais of the Montreal Canadiens has been a significant help to the Habs over their last 5 games. During this time Desharnais has recorded 7 points in those five games. With his production the Habs came out with 7 of 10 points. Desharnais is owned in 20% of yahoo fantasy hockey leagues. The Quebec native has a career high 43 points this season. I strongly suggest you should pick up Desharnais in in your leagues, he’s young and worth it in my opinion.

Victor Hedman (TB) – For a player who has not done much offensively this season. Hedman has registered 5 assist in his last four games, while only recording 8 points since this time. This native of Sweden is only 21 years old, so do not get discourage that he is under performing. Give Hedman some time, I promise you that he will amount to his second overall draft selection.

3 COLD
Daniel Sedin (VAN) – A so far uncharacteristically month of February for one of the Sedin twins. Daniel Sedin has only recorded 3 points in 7 games this month. This after Daniel won the Art Ross trophy season. Daniel is currently 15 points behind Evgeni Malkin who leads the league in points so far this season. Therefor Daniel has a lot of catching up to do if he wants to have a shot of another Art Ross trophy.

Drew Doughty (LAK) – Doughty has been underperforming for the month of February with 3 points in 8 games. Now this may have to do with that the Kings have played 6 road games this month. But there is no excuse for the type of skill level Doughty has, to have this kind of lack of production.

Ryan Miller (BUF) – Miller continues to have one of the most disappointing seasons of his 7 year NHL career. Miller’s .906 SV% and 2.82GAA are career worst after 39 games played this season. Though what makes things worst is that Miller is in danger of having his first season where he does not record at least 30 wins.
