Earlier this morning, Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews wrecked his black AMG Mercedes Benz in downtown Chicago.

The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that Toews was not injured and that the accident occured on his way to this morning’s practice at the United Center when he ran into an elevated steel train post at Garfield and Lake street.

Team spokesman, Brandon Faber, gave the following statement according to NBC Chicago Blackhawk’s blog, Madhouse Enforcer:

“Jonathan Toews was in a minor one-car collision in downtown Chicago this morning while driving himself to the United Center. He was not injured.”

Although Toews was not injured, it is reported that he left the scene of the accident in an ambulance.  Police say no citations were issued and he was not administrated a field sobriety test.

Even so, this can’t bode well for the upper-body injury that has kept him out of the lineup in Tuesday’s and tonight’s games.
