Video: Hockey Player Takes a Play from Soccer by Scoring with his Head
Washington Capitals center Mathieu Perreault channeled his inner David Beckham by redirecting a Jason Chimera pass by Ottawa Senators goalie Craig Anderson with his head.
At the time the Senators led 4-1 and although the goal had no impact on the outcome of the game it did generate some excitement in an otherwise boring contest.
Unlike soccer, hockey does not allow a player to score a goal by kicking the puck into the net, but your head is fair game. Unfortunately for Perreault a hockey puck to the head hurts like a mother f@$%er. But a goal is a goal – even if it stings for a bit.
In keeping with the soccer theme once he was struck Perreault emphatically flung off his gloves and collapsed to the ice like he’d been shot by a sniper – a classic soccer player flop.
Enjoy!
