Another disappointing deadline that picked up at the end of the day. The one team that made significant moves at a hefty price was the Nashville Predators.

Rick Nash staying in Columbus, as expected. Paul Gaustad valued at a 1st round pick, not expected.

TRADE: Buffalo Sabres have traded Zack Kassian and Marc-Andre Gragnani to the Vancouver Canucks for Cody Hodgson and Alexander Sulzer

TRADE: The Buffalo Sabres have traded Paul Gaustad and a 2012 4th round pick to the Nashville Predators for a 2012 1st round pick.

Talks for Rick Nash have apparently picked up with 25 minutes left in the trade deadline.

Glimmers of hope are however dwindling fast though.

The Sharks talked with Columbus about Nash. The talks however failed.

TRADE: The Winnipeg Jets have traded Johnny Oduya to the Chicago Blackhawks for a 2013 2nd round pick and 2013 3rd round pick.

TRADE: The San Jose Sharks have acquired Daniel Winnik and T.J. Galiardi and a 2012 7th round pick from the Colorado Avalanche for Jamie McGinn, Mike Connolly, and Michael Sgarbossa.

TRADE: The Ottawa Senators have traded Brian Lee to the Tampa Bay Lightning for Matt Gilroy.

TRADE: Sami Pahlsson has been traded to the Vancouver Canucks for 2 fourth round picks in 2012.

The Ottawa Sun reports that the San Jose Sharks are the last team remaining in the hunt for Rick Nash. “Not sure if they can get it done.”

When asked if Paul Gaustad will be moved by the end of the day TSN’s Bob McKenzie says “likely”. Another name he said is “likely” to be moved is Derek Roy.

Brad May stated on Twitter that he has heard the Sabres want a first round pick for Gaustad.

Gaustad was supposed to receive an offer from the Sabres today as it reaches 10:00 AM on the east coast, he has not received an offer according to Michael Peca. Expect him to be traded.

Waiver Claims: Winnipeg Jets have claimed Grant Clitsome (originally from Columbus) and the Montreal Canadiens have claimed Brad Staubitz (originally from Minnesota), according to Bob McKenzie.

It appears all talks of Rick Nash being traded could be done. The Blue Jackets have set the price extremely high for Nash. The Nashville Predators and San Jose Sharks were said to be the only two teams left in the running for Nash, but the Predators only plan on dealing if the price is right.

Johnny Oduya is gaining interest from the Chicago Blackhawks and the Boston Bruins. (According to ESPN’s Pierre LeBrun and TSN’s Darren Dreger)

Boston Bruins are also interested in Colorado Avalanche player David Jones.

TRADE: The Montreal Canadiens have traded forward Andrei Kostitsyn to the Nashville Predators for a 2nd round pick in 2013, and a conditional 5th round pick in 2013 [Full Story by Jeff Zeffer]

This trade re-unites the Kostitsyn brothers in Nashville. The 5th rounder acquired by the Canadiens is their 5th round pick traded to the Predators in their previous Hal Gill trade.

Montreal Canadiens are expected to be the first team to make a trade today according to TSN’s Bob McKenzie. Ryan White and Chris Campoli are the two that are expected to be dealt.

Detroit Red Wings and Boston Bruins seem to be the two teams interested in Columbus Blue Jackets forward Sami Pahlsson right now. Pahlsson has 66 career goals in 779 career games. Look for him to be dealt sometime today!

To further update a story we had on the Philadelphia Flyers earlier, the Flyers are not shopping for a goalie and James van Riemsdyk is not on the market either. They also are not currently interested in Rick Nash. (According to the Philadelphia Inquirer)

The only teams rumored to still be in the race for Nash are the Nashville Predators and the San Jose Sharks. When we get more details on this, we will give them to you at Rant Sports!

A report by the Boston Globe says that Blue Jackets forward Sami Pahlsson and Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Jaroslav Spacek could both be added by the Bruins by the deadline tomorrow.

Ottawa acquired goalie Ben Bishop from the St. Louis Blues for a 2013 2nd round pick.
