After a disappointing home loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday night the Golden State Warriors were back in action on Thursday night facing the struggling Denver Nuggets who at the start of the night had lost four straight games and in each of those games the Nuggets were held under 100 points. Yet, the Warriors still faced a difficult task facing the Nuggets as the Warriors had lost six straight in Denver.

In the first quarter it was the Stephen Curry show as he scored 15 points in the first quarter and had 21 points at half time. The Warriors still were trailing at half time 51-47.  Like the first quarter, Curry was able to score at will finishing with 12 in the quarter and the Warriors were able build a 13 point lead at the end of the third. In the fourth Curry scored only three points, yet Warriors rookie Klay Thompson picked up Curry’s slack by scoring  14 of his career high 19 points in the fourth.

Curry was on fired and finished 13-17 from the field  and that included going 6-9 from beyond the arc, also he made his presence felt on the glass as he picked up seven rebounds, he also picked up seven assists, got into the act defensively with two blocked shots and more impressively only turned the ball over once.

As for Thompson he was as hot as Curry going 8-11 from the field including 3-4 from beyond the arc. Yet, his play of the night came on the defensive end as he made an impressive steal of Julyan Stone and scored on an easy dunk to put the Warriors up 20 with just under four minutes remaining in the game.

While Curry and Thompson combined to score 55 points on 21-28 shooting and 9-13 from distance, the Warriors were able to block 14 shots as well. The Nuggets meanwhile managed to only block one shot. With Curry and Thompson scorching the Nuggets offensively and the Warriors blocking shots it’s not a surprise the Warriors ended their six game losing streak in Denver and sent the Nuggets to their fifth consecutive loss.
