VIDEO: Louis Oosthuizen Double Eagle At The Masters

By Riley Schmitt

Move over, Bo Van Pelt.  Louis Oosthuizen just had the shot of the Masters.  Oosthuizen was at seven under when he struck his second shot on the par-5 second hole.  His shot was pure and rolled in for the double eagle, which gave him the lead at ten under.

I have never seen a shot like that.  The shot is possibly going to dump the entire tournament on its head.  That is rarer than a hole in one.  Van Pelt’s hole in one was awesome, but this shot actually matters in the scheme of the tournament.  This could give the Double O the momentum that he needs to win the Masters.

With Peter Hanson and Phil Mickelson struggling right out of the gate, Double O has the lead by himself.  Could he win another major?  Time will tell, but he certainly has the all the momentum going forward.  It is only the fourth double eagle in the history of the Masters.  This tournament isn’t brand new.  It has been around for a while and this is only the fourth time that it has happened.

I’d be willing to bet that has never happened in such a pressure packed moment.  That is shot that you only hear about, but never see.  That’s something that is almost impossible on video games.  Factor in real life and one of the four majors of the season, it is downright spectacular.

There is a reason the Masters is special.  Shots like this add to the aura of Augusta and its golf.
