The Top 10 Golf Broadcasters
The 10 Best Golf Broadcasters in the World
Let me start off by saying that this list of my top 10 golf broadcasters is far from scientific. I didn’t use any complicated algorithm based on amount of tournaments covered, total viewership or major championships worked. This is simply a list of the golf announcers that I enjoy watching the most and I feel do the best work.
Some people on this list have a niche where they excel. Others do a little bit of everything and do it very well. Not everyone on the list is from the good ‘ole U S of A. Let’s not forget that golf is a truly international game. Some of the most talented golfers in the world come from outside of the United States, so it only makes sense that some of the best broadcasters are not American, as well.
With so many avenues presently available to watch the game of golf, it is only logical that there are more and more broadcasters. Just because someone is paid to talk about golf doesn’t mean they are exceptionally skilled or qualified to do so. This is a list of the best of the best; the cream of the crop.
There are some people that you will find on this list that are relatively new to the world of golf broadcasting. Others have been doing it at a very high level for quite some time. Some on this list used to play the game professionally. The one thing that they all have in common is the fact that they make the game more enjoyable for me to watch.
Feel free to leave your feedback as to anyone you feel was unjustly left off my list or if you think a particular individual should have been ranked higher or lower than where I have them.
10 Roger Maltbie
The consummate professional. Maltbie knows how to mix humor with insight and has been doing it for a very long time.
9 Gary McCord
By far one of the bigger personalities of all golf broadcasters. It’s hard to top his energy.
8 Frank Nobilo
Working alongside Brandel Chamblee makes Nobilo’s work pale in comparison. He is a quality broadcaster in his own right, however.
7 Jim Nantz
“Hello Friends”. Nantz and The Masters are a perfect combination.
6 Peter Alliss
Alliss is the voice of the European Tour. It’s truly a pleasure every time I get the chance to listen to him broadcast.
5 Peter Kostis
Nobody can analyze a swing better than Peter Kostis.
4 Johnny Miller
Miller has been a staple in the broadcast booth for years. His competitive nature still shines through every time he speaks.
3 Nick Faldo
Faldo would be challenging for the number one spot if he were more consistent. When he’s on, he’s incredible. When he’s not, he’s still pretty darn good.
2 David Feherty
Because he is probably the funniest of all announcers, people often overlook the fact that Feherty is incredibly intelligent. His delivery sometimes seems almost flippant, but that is far from the case. In fact, that’s probably part of his charm.
1 Brandel Chamblee
He makes it seem effortless. Definitely a joy to watch. His insight is second to none.
