2013 PGA Tour Season Kicks off Next Week in Hawaii
After some much needed downtime for the pros, the PGA Tour is set to kick off its season next weekend with the Hyundai Tournament of Champions at The Plantation Course in Kapalua, Hawaii. That’s right, I said next weekend. I guess time really does fly when you’re having fun.
While this is usually not the deepest field that we will see all year, there is certainly no lack of star power. Several of the top ranked golfers in the world have recently committed to participating, including Bubba Watson, Jason Dufner, Brandt Snedeker, Zach Johnson, Dustin Johnson, Hunter Mahan, Matt Kuchar, Ian Poulter and Keegan Bradley. These superstars will join many other PGA Tour winners from 2012 in a bid to win the first official event of the 2013 season.
When speaking about many of the recent commitments made by some of the biggest names in the sport, Executive Director Nancy Cross said, “These…players are great additions to the Hyundai Tournament of Champions field and will bring excitement to Kapalua as we kickoff the 2013 FedExCup season on the PGA Tour.”
Fans and golfers alike look forward to this tournament every year, as it signals the kick off of the new PGA Tour season. As with the beginning of a new season in any sport, the first few contests are filled with anticipation, as we wait to see if our favorite player is going to start off on a hot streak or if we can pick the break out player of the year.
