Rumors from the Hyundai Tournament of Champions in Hawaii this week are that PGA Tour pro Dustin Johnson is reportedly dating Paulina Gretzky, daughter of NHL Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky.
According to Sports Illustrated’s Alan Shipnuck, the two spent a great deal of time together when Johnson wasn’t out practicing his golf game. Shipnuck writes, “If the laid-back Johnson looked strangely comfortable on the Plantation Course it comes from the extra time he’s spent here. Needing to break in new irons and a new driver, Johnson arrived early and played six practice rounds. (That also allowed him to spend some quality time with his new squeeze Paulina Gretzky.)”
This report has yet to be confirmed by representatives from either camp, but it is certainly not unlikely that these two are now an item. Each has had their name linked to other high profile individuals in the past (whether they were actually an item is another story entirely). In 2011, Johnson was linked to female golfer Natalie Gulbis, who confirmed their relationship. Gretzky, on the other hand was recently tied to hockey player Jaret Stoll, a rumor she has vehemently denied.
If DJ is actually dating the Gretzky, I say he holds on to her for as long as he can. There’s a very good chance she was the good luck charm that helped propel him to victory this week. With sports stars being an incredibly superstitious bunch, Johnson needs to do everything he can to keep the mojo going. Who knows, if they get married he might even end up winning a major.
