Three New Events Added To 2013 LPGA Schedule
The LPGA released its 2013 schedule this week in which there will be 28 official events and The Solheim Cup, which will be played at the Colorado Golf Club in August. A highlight of the 2013 schedule is that the LPGA added three new events to the calendar from last season.
The first of the new events in 2013 will be The North Texas LPGA Shootout. The inaugural event will be held from April 25th-28th at the Los Colinas Country Club in Irving, Texas. This tournament will feature a 72 hole format and a purse of $1.3 million. There will be a very unique opportunity for amateur players to play in the shootout as there will be exemptions handed out to the winners of high school and collegiate shootout that will be played prior to the LPGA event. This is the first LPGA tournament to be held in the North Texas region in over twenty years.
The second addition to the LPGA schedule is the Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic. This is the first time the LPGA has had an official tournament in the Bahamas. This will be a full field, standard eligibility tournament that will be held May 23rd-26th at the Ocean Club Golf Course in Paradise Island, Bahamas. This tournament will also feature a 72 hole format and a $1.3 million purse. Pure Silk sponsors several LPGA players and so it is nice to see them grow their relationship.
The third and final addition to the 2013 LPGA schedule is the Reignwood Pine Valley LPGA Classic. This tournament is being held in conjunction with the China Golf Association and China LPGA. The field will consist of 81 LPGA and CLPGA players and be played at the Reignwood Pine Valley Golf Club in Bejing, China. The tournament will carry a $1.8 million purse and is the first to be played in the capital of China.
These tournaments are exciting additions to a growing LPGA schedule that is sure to excite fans worldwide in 2013.
