The Honda Classic will take place this weekend, so get ready to hear about Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy nonstop over the course of the week, starting right now. However, let’s leave McIlroy out of the equation and talk some good old-fashioned Tiger Woods and why he will win this weekend.
Woods may have lost in the very first round of the Accenture Match Play, but expectations are that will not skip a beat at the Honda Classic. Woods will enter the tournament as the No. 2 golfer in the world rankings and rightfully so.
Although Woods does not take tournaments like these as seriously as he would a Major, he is still very competitive and would likely love to add a Honda Classic trophy to his resume. Last season, Woods finished in second place at this tournament. The winner was none other than McIlroy.
Woods has already won one tournament this year and he did it in Tiger-like fashion, blowing the field away. This is the Tiger of old. The only difference this time around is the fact that there is a golfer just as good as him. In recent years, it would be Tiger vs. the field, but now it is Tiger vs. the field, vs. Rory McIlroy.
Woods is already seventh on the money leader board this year and 10th in the FedEx, despite only playing one PGA Tour event on the year.
Woods will likely not hit fairway after fairway this weekend, but has he ever? However, you can expect him to make great iron and approach shots and you better believe that his dominant putting of the past will be there as well. It won’t be easy, but Tiger will be holding the trophy up come Sunday.
