Generally when a golfer has some trouble on the greens the answer is to look for a new putter. For the vast majority of the populous that doesn’t generate much buzz. When you’re Ian Poulter, however, it grabs headlines. The story becomes even more incredible when said golfer announces the change via social media and tells putter manufacturers to send him products to try.

For what it’s worth, Poulter isn’t blaming his struggling short game on his putter. He’s simply saying that sometimes change is good and when he has made changes in the past they have paid off handsomely.

We can’t be sure which putter Poulter will decide on, but we can be certain that he is going to receive a lot of products to try over the next few weeks.

The putter he’s tossing is an Odyssey XG No. 7, which just so happens to be the putter he used to help win the 2012 Ryder Cup. It appears as if that particular wand has outlived its usefulness. The new short stick that Poults decides on will make its competitive debut at the British Open that is just a few short weeks away.

Poulter is by far one of the most prolific social media users in the game, boasting over 1.5 million followers on Twitter alone. He has reached that number because he keeps his followers engaged and entertained. And if he can get a few free putters out of the deal it’s even better.
