Heading into the 2014 Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass, there are quite a few golfers playing at a level good enough to put themselves into contention on Sunday. Here is a list of the top 10 with a chance to be in contention at the end of the weekend.

10. Luke Donald

Donald has two top-five finishes in his last five tournaments. He is playing well right now and should be able to carry that momentum into the Players Championship.

Fowler has two top-10 finishes in his last four tournaments, including a fifth place finish at the 2014 Masters. His confidence should be high as he heads into the weekend, which should help him climb the leaderboard again.

Coming off of back-to-back top-10 finishes, Rose will look to keep himself in contention for a third straight tournament. Rose has only missed one cut this season and has been racking up top-10 finishes all year.

7. Rory McIlroy

McIlroy finished eighth in this tournament last year and would love to add it to his list of victories. Even with five top-10 finishes this year, McIlroy has fallen out of the top-10 in the World Rankings for the first time in three years. He will be motivated to reverse that this weekend.

6. Matt Kuchar

Still riding high from his win at the RBC Heritage, Kuchar is looking to win this event for the second time. With top-10 finishes in eight of 11 events this season, Kuchar is always in a position to win come Sunday.

5. Henrik Stenson

Stenson has been one of the most consistent golfers when it comes to the Players Championship, with three top-10 finishes out of eight career tournaments. Being comfortable on a course will be a huge benefit this weekend, which will be great for Stenson.

4. Jordan Spieth

After bursting onto the scene with a second-place finish at the 2014 Masters, Spieth is looking to re-create magic in his first appearance at the Players Championship. If history tells us anything, it is that this kid isn't easily intimidated.

3. Sergio Garcia

A winner of this tournament in 2008, Garcia will be looking to avenge a meltdown on the 17th hole here last year when he shot two balls into the water, which knocked him out of contention. If he is in contention come Sunday, I bet he won't make that mistake again.

2. Adam Scott

With four par-5s on this course, Scott, who is leading the tour in scoring on par-5s (4.41), should be able to put up a few birdies to keep himself near the leaders heading into the weekend.

1. Bubba Watson

Oddly enough, Watson has never finished better than 37th on this course, though I have a feeling that his second Masters victory will help his confidence level and push him over the edge.
